Most of the Traces you can find attached to my profile will be located fairly close to Taipei. Many of these can be completed in a single day if your willing to get up early.
23.337175, 120.616957 Really fun trace. Lots of nice deep pools to swim in and waterfalls to enjoy. You'll notice a fairly distinct branching of the river not long after you start. I suggest following the side branch (right-hand side) for a bit and hitting up the waterfall it has to offer. They the best ones you'll find. Once the terrian gets flat double back and head up
... the main branch towards the ending GPS location. You will be able to get out of the water there and walk back along the highway.
22.925440, 121.258232 This is a really cool little river trace close to Dulan. You can park at the starting GPS point and shouldn't have much of an issue finding your way in from there. A good portion of this river trace is inside of a fairly narrow canyon. The views are great and the trace is a lot of fun. There were a couple of areas where you would want to be a fairly
... confident climber, or have someone go up first with a rope. When we went the water was quite low as it was the dry season. It could be a whole different type of trace when it's wet.
24.884249, 121.538829 Easy trace located quite close to town. Perfect for someone just looking to get into river tracing. The ending GPS location will get you to an area with a big slide that is quite fun, and quite safe. The final pool is deep so make sure you know how to swim. Some people I know have taken dogs on this trace up until the waterslide so thats possible if
... you want to give it a go.
You can take the left-hand fork away from the main pool you end up at and go slightly further up to find a small pool to relax in. It should be easy to recognize as it's shaped a bit like a very specific part of the male anatomy. You can either continue further up this stream, though it does get a harder quite and I wouldn't suggest it unless you more experienced (only went 20 mins up myself, though would like to go back with more time as it looks fun) or find a trail on your left-hand side if you're facing upstream you can use to walk back to where you started. If that all seems a bit confusing check the photos for a drawing
